ABC’s mock bar to start Jan. 31

The Andres Bonifacio College School of Law, through its dean Judge Eustolia J. Mata, revealed that the 2010 mock bar examination will kick off this Sunday, January 31 at the third floor of the Science and Technology Building. Some fifteen senior law students will hurdle the said examination.

In an interview, Mata said that the examination seeks to assess the chances of senior law students in passing the real bar examination which is annually administered by the Supreme Court in the four Sundays of September. “Students will really burn their midnight candles since failure to pass the mock bar examination means denial from graduation,” Mata continued.

The mock bar examination which was started during the dean-ship of the late Atty. Narciso P. Barbaso, has been proven effective in raising the over-all performance of the ABC law school. In a 2007 study conducted by former Supreme Court Chief Justice Artemio V. Panganiban, ABCollege was identified as one of the top performing law schools across the archipelago.

The mock examination will run for four Sundays.  This will cover the eight bar subjects to wit: January 31, Political Law (morning) and Labor Law and Social Legislation (afternoon); February 7, Civil Law (morning) and Taxation (afternoon); February 14, Mercantile Law (morning) and Criminal Law (afternoon); and February 21, Remedial Law (morning) and Legal Ethics and Practical Exercises (afternoon).

“Only those who are not afraid to fail are fit to pass. And for those who pass the mock bar examination, that is just the first step. They must be ready to face another challenge which is the real bar and there is no other guarantee for passing except preparation,” the lady dean disclosed.

The result of the mock bar examination is expected to be released after the Testimonial Dinner, an honorary banquet hosted by the third year class for the examinees. (by padm)
