CHED commends ABCollege School of Nursing for High Passing Rate

The Commission on Higher Education Region IX based in Zamboanga City recently commended the Andres Bonifacio College School of Nursing for its outstanding performance in the November 2009 Nursing Licensure Examinations (NLE) given by the Professional Regulation Commission. In her letter dated June 4, 2010 addressed to the College President Mr. Sancho S. Amatong, Dr. Emmylou B. Yanga, CHED Regional Director expressed her congratulations to the College administration and the faculty of the Nursing Department for the exemplary feat. “We wish to congratulate you and your staff in the College of Nursing for a job well done,” the letter stated.

It can be remembered that the department obtained a record high 89.65% passing rate or twenty-six ( 26) passers out of twenty-nine ( 29) first time examinees, becoming 1st in the region and landing 10th  nationwide in its over-all performance under the 30-99 examinees category. There were forty- six (46) examinees from the College in the November 2009 NLE exams.

Dr. Yanga also encouraged the College to continue to upgrade its NLE results in the future “so as not to be affected by the provisions of CHED Memorandum Order Number 14, series of 2009, particularly Article XI, Sections 1 to 4 relative to the sanctions and phasing out of the program of Higher Education Institutions or HEIs which have below 30% mark.”  Moreover, she  thanked the College for its continuous support in providing quality education to its students.

The Andres Bonifacio College School of Nursing thus far obtained passing rates above the national passing rate. In its first batch of graduates, the department set an unprecedented mark when it obtained a passing rate of 69%. It resulted from the rigorous and quality  instruction from its faculty . Since then, the department has  maintained the winning stance and has been  considered at par with the leading nursing schools in the country.

Meanwhile, 2008 and 2009 proved to be fruitful to the College as it amassed high passing rates in its other departments. The School of Engineering  recorded a season high 100% passing rates in the Electrical Engineering, Geodetic Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering licensure examinations and  produced a 4th placer in the 2008 ME examination. Similar feats from the Education, Business Management, and Criminology departments are also commendable.

The Andres Bonifacio College, being the Pioneer Builder of Leaders, continues to produce highly qualified and skilled graduates and professionals by providing quality and affordable education. The comprehensive and results-oriented programs and initiatives of the College aim to obtain better passing percentages in the coming board examinations.
