ABCollege holds “Pasko sa ABC 2011”, HS Dept. bags Best Lantern Award

In celebration of the Christmas season, the Andres Bonifacio College recently held a College-wide Christmas party dubbed “Pasko sa ABC 2011” last December 16. Administration officials, faculty, employees, and students alike converged at the Amando B. Amatong Civic Center and brought with them food, joy, and unparalleled talents. The party also signalled the start of the Christmas break of the College.

Highlighting the said event were the presentations of the different departments and offices, live bands, raffles, parlor games, and the announcement of the winners of the Lantern Display Competition. The High School Department, with their “under the sea” concept, won the Best Lantern Award with a cash prize of P 10,000 courtesy of the ABCollege Administration plus a trophy sponsored by the Supreme Student Government (SSG) which co-sponsored the Christmas Party. Bagging the 2nd major prize of P 5, 000 plus a trophy is the Elementary Department while the School of Education trailed behind as 3rd placer, winning P3, 000 and a trophy.

It can be remembered that last December 9, 2011, lanterns brought by the students of the different departments and employees of ABCollege lit the streets during the Lantern Parade around Dipolog City. Students and teachers alike brought with them their homemade Christmas adornments made from recycled materials. People came out of their homes to see such spectacular parade of lights which only happens here in Dipolog every 2 years. It has been the 3rd time since the ABCollege hosted the said parade that adds color, vibrance, and a unique sense of culture to the celebration of Christmas here in the province.

Christmas is still the merriest time of the year here in the country and is celebrated as a manifestation that life goes on despite the great economic setbacks and the natural disasters that the Philippines is experiencing today.
