ABCollege Graduate Among the Top 10 Agriculturists

Ms. Rheva B. Sawayan, ABCollege graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Technology Program Class of 2016 bagged the 10th spot in the October 2016 Agriculturist Licensure Examination. She and four other ABCollege examinees were among the 1,790 who passed the exam from the 5,795 who took it.agriculturist2

Ms. Sawayan is the eldest of two children of Mr. Oswaldo Bacazera, a nurse currently working in Canada, and Mrs. Helen Igloria Bacazera, a NGO worker.  She finished her elementary education at the Dipolog Pilot Demonstration School and her secondary education at the Jose Rizal Memorial State College.

Describing herself as a typical student and an “Ate” to her younger schoolmates in the Agriculture Society, she recalled that she found the board examination difficult. According to her, “The 3 day examinations were physically and mentally draining.  I even felt anxious thinking about the result of the examination despite the fact that I attended my review classes regularly, and studied the review materials religiously. All these supplemented and fortified those which I have already learned during our classes and the group study sessions with my classmates.”

When asked about the key factors which contributed to her success, she emphasized three elements namely: adequate preparation, which should start from the day one enrolls in a chosen field until he/she takes the qualifying examination; the ability to relax and give one’s self a break when needed, which means not forcing the self to study when tired and/or sleepy, and most importantly; faith and prayers to the Almighty God.  “At the end of the day, you must lay all of your efforts in His hands and He will make things happen in His own marvelous way,” she added.

On her plans as a licensed agriculturist, she wants to be involved in rural development through facilitating knowledge and skills transfer to local farmers anchored on safe and modern ways of agriculture especially, organic farming.

The four other new ABCollge Agriculturists are: Mr. Jecson L. Alia, Mr.  Efren Karl C. Realista, Mr. Aggie L. Sumog and Mr. Rosario T. Taruc.  The College’s passing rate is 35.71 percent, higher than the national passing rate of 30.89 percent. (Kevin James Limbaga)
