ABCollege celebrates its 124th Founder’s Birth Anniversary

The Andres Bonifacio College (ABC) has celebrated its 124th Founder’s Birth Anniversary in

honor of its founder, Amando Borja Amatong, on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Amando B.

Amatong Civic Center (ABACC) College Park, Dipolog City.

Amando B. Amatong founded the Andres Bonifacio Institute in 1940 with the prime purpose of

providing accessible, affordable, and quality education to the people of Zamboanga del Norte

and its other areas of influence.

The celebration started with a Diana at 4 a.m. around the city streets followed by a floral offering

to the Founder by department and offices at the Dipolog Catholic Cemetery.

A thanksgiving mass was also celebrated by the College community at the ABACC and was

officiated by Rev. Fr. Cesar Tinga.

To highlight the said celebration, a tribute to its founder was presented through an annual dance

competition focused on this year’s theme, “Pasidungog 2016: Kinaiyahan Atong Ampingan ug

Alimahan”, which is particularly conceptualized to give importance to Mother Earth and how one

can live out in the care for the natural environment.

dancing along the city main streets and dance showdown inside the ABACC. There were six

contingents striving for the top spot of the said competition. The performing departments were,

Arts and Sciences (CAS) together with the School of Nursing; the School of Education (SoEd);
